Resource of the Week: Baby Sleep Consultants

“How are they sleeping?” is one of the most common questions that new parents hear. Sometimes, the pressure to have a “good sleeper” can be overwhelming, even beginning with your newborn. Baby sleep can also be a controversial decision topic, as each unique family will take different approaches and use different strategies to support their child’s sleep patterns.

Not only is the question common, but the resources and opinions out there are plentiful. It can be super overwhelming to Google “baby sleep” or anything related to helping your baby sleep, as there are so many results. Knowing which resources to read, which align with your family’s priorities and values, and ultimately which tips to trust can be a challenge!

This week, we’ve highlighted two popular baby sleep resources that take different approaches to supporting your child’s sleep. Both resources offer supportive guides, courses, and consultation options, as well as free blog and social media content with sleep tips and suggestions that you can explore. Deciding which sleep strategies are best for your family can be a process, so we hope these resources can help you with any decisions you may face related to baby sleep!

Taking Cara Babies

Cara from Taking Cara Babies is a neonatal nurse and certified pediatric sleep consultant. Her business focuses on supporting babies and toddlers to sleep with developmentally appropriate sleep training strategies. She teaches sleep training methods with an emphasis on prioritizing sleep while maintaining an emotional connection and secure attachment with your baby.

A popular product, her “First Five Months” bundle, helps establish routines for young babies to set them up for independent sleep habits. Her older baby and toddler video courses walk you through sleep training approaches to help establish and sustain independent sleep. Taking Cara Babies also offers one-on-one phone consultations to help develop a customized plan for your family, and their Instagram account is full of sleep tips and shared parenthood inspiration.

If you’re not interested in buying a class but are looking for information about establishing sleep routines or further support, you can check out lots of free articles on their blog, covering topics including sleep schedules, naps, sleep regressions, troubleshooting challenging nights, and more.

Hey Sleepy Baby

After struggling with her firstborn and making some baby sleep decisions that she regretted, Rachel decided to do the research and learn all about supporting her children’s sleep. She is now a certified sleep consultant, offers one-on-one consultation, as well as tons of resources via her website and Instagram account.

Her business, Hey Sleepy Baby, provides responsive sleep support. She focuses on finding strategies for parents that are science-based and align with your parenting style. Some of the favorite products for purchase on her website are the crib and floor bed guide, her toddler bedtime guide, and the night weaning workshop. You can also read articles about a variety of topics – there’s an option to sort by topic at the top – here on her blog, or follow along on Instagram.
