As soon as you get a positive pregnancy test, you might be wondering, “Can I eat that sushi? Is a small glass of wine really that bad? What kinds of fish are safe?” Lily Nichols, a Registered Dietician/Nutritionist, addresses all of these questions and more in her book on optimal prenatal nutrition. Incorporating hundreds of research studies, she explains what you should eat in order to nourish both yourself and your baby. The book even includes recipes to make it easy to eat real food.

It is an extremely helpful resource for educating yourself as a mother and as a patient, so that you can make the best decisions for your baby. If you are hoping to breastfeed your baby, you will learn so much from this book! Rather than waiting until you run into nursing problems, read this while pregnant so you are prepared for anything that might come up. It is published by the La Leche League International, a breastfeeding support organization with local chapters across the globe. We suggest connecting with your local chapter (often via Facebook group or email newsletter) to stay up to date on meeting times or to connect one-on-one with a chapter leader for a breastfeeding question.
